When Should Famciclovir Be Avoided?
You should not take famciclovir if you:
- Are allergic to famciclovir, Famvir, or any inactive components used to make the medication. Your healthcare provider or pharmacist has a list of the inactive ingredients.
- Are allergic to Denavir® (penciclovir cream), a medication that is very similar to famciclovir.
There are a number of situations in which famciclovir should not be taken, as well as several precautions and warnings people should be aware of before taking the medication. However, it is possible that not all of the precautions and warnings with famciclovir were discussed in this article. Therefore, you should talk with your healthcare provider about the specific famciclovir precautions and warnings that may apply to you.
