Gabapentin (Neurontin®) is a prescription drug used for treating epilepsy and shingles nerve pain. It is approved to be used in combination with other seizure medications to treat partial seizures in adults and children as young as three years old. While most people tolerate it well, potential side effects include dry mouth, drowsiness, and weight gain. If you have kidney disease or any allergies, it is important to let your healthcare provider know before taking gabapentin.
