Lidoderm Patch Side Effects

The Lidoderm® patch (lidocaine patch) is a medication often prescribed for the treatment of postherpetic neuralgia, the nerve pain that can occur after a case of shingles.
Although most people tolerate this skin patch well, it is possible to develop side effects while using the Lidoderm patch. Side effects of this medication can often include skin reactions at the application site, such as:
  • Blisters
  • A burning sensation
  • Redness
  • Itching
  • Abnormal sensations.
In most cases, side effects are minor and either do not require treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider. However, there are a number of potentially serious side effects that require immediate medical attention. Notify your healthcare provider right away if you experience difficulty breathing, vomiting, or blurred vision.
