Who Should Not Take Valacyclovir?

You should not take valacyclovir if you are allergic to Valtrex, valacyclovir hydrochloride, or any inactive component used to make valacyclovir. Your healthcare provider or pharmacist has a list of the inactive ingredients. Valacyclovir is closely related to acyclovir (Zovirax®), so you should not take valacyclovir if you are allergic to acyclovir.
