It is recommended that adults 60 years old and older get vaccinated with Zostavax®, a drug that is used for preventing shingles. The single-dose vaccine contains a live but weakened version of the varicella-zoster virus, and it works by helping the body produce an immune system response to the virus. Possible side effects of Zostavax include headache and injection site reactions.
